Dr. Lesko’s research group is looking for at least one motivated undergraduate student to test novel polymeric materials for membrane separation applications. Responsibilities include solvent casting polymeric films, as well as preparing thin film samples for mechanical testing. Other responsibilities including mechanical testing and data analysis may be assigned depending on student availability. Progress will be assessed based on weekly group meeting updates. This position will begin in spring of 2017 and may continue for subsequent semesters. Students may work for pay or for credit.
A strong candidate should be comfortable working in an diverse interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers. Students should show an interest in polymers, particularly polymers processing, mechanical characterization, ionic polymers, membrane separations, or similar topics. Experience or familiarity with polymer processing is preferred, but not required. Preference given to students with planned graduation in Spring 2018 but others will be considered. Interested students should email their resume to both Miss Britannia Vondrasek (bvon@vt.edu) and Dr. Jack Lesko (jlesko@exchange.vt.edu). Interviews will be conducted the week of November 14th.
Thank you for your help!
