Intern @ Johnson Controls

The following was received by email.

Last year we had a great summer intern from Virginia Tech Materials Engineering work with us in our lab.

This year we have another opening for a summer intern in the Materials Engineering Laboratory at Johnson Controls. The position would be 40 hours per week (M-F) during the day at our Plymouth, MI Tech. Center (about 15 minutes outside Detroit).

We are looking for an MS&E undergrad that will have completed their Junior year (by May 2016) to conduct typical characterization of automotive steel products, assist with failure analysis of tested components and to aid in a study involving the formability of advanced high strength steels.

The work would involve performing Rockwell & Vickers hardness testing, mechanical strength testing, chemical composition determination, fractography and examination of metal microstructures.

I feel this would be an excellent opportunity for a student to gain hands-on laboratory experience and to get a feel for metals applications in the automotive field.

If you know of any student that may be interested please have them forward their resume to me.
