Scholar - Intern @ Imerys

Hello everyone,

We have just extended our Scholarship application deadline to May 15th due to the very few applications we have received by today's date. This means that again, the chances are fantastic of being selected as a finalist (traveling to our facility near Santa Barbara for a plant tour and then to San Jose for a tour of our research laboratory, then networking with Imerys executives over dinner and doing a project presentation to the selection committee). We will select 10-15 finalists to participate in this process and then choose 4-5 Scholarship recipients from this group. The odds are in their favor!

Those who are chosen for the Scholarship will not only receive a $5k scholarship, but perhaps more valuable: an internship project will be created individually for the Scholar, based on his/her discipline and interests. In addition, the Scholar will be assigned a "sponsor" - an accomplished professional aligned to his/her discipline who will be available as a mentor and help identify the internship possibilities.

This summer, here's what some of our Scholar-Interns will be doing:

- Georgia Tech Chemical Engineering student will be in Lompoc, California working in a high-purity pharmaceutical product plant to support process engineering efficiencies and improvements after she just spent the last 4 months working with our New Product Development team researching the opportunities for Mechanical Insecticide in the equine industry
- UCSB Chemical Engineering students are spending the summer in Montana doing process engineering projects in a pilot plant and in California working on material formulation and mineral functionality in our research laboratory
- UC Davis Chemical Engineering student will be working in Central Washington on a detailed analysis of air flows in the production facility

Several of our Scholars have been made full-time offers, a soon-to-be UCSB Chemical Engineering graduate will be joining our IMERYS Graduates Program this summer. This will be our fifth Scholar hired in a full-time position, several others are being considered as well. This is an opportunity to make a connection with a dynamic and growing international company ---- ambitious students should not let this opportunity pass.

We are very excited about this program and need your support to get the word out to your most deserving students. Should you have any questions, please direct your students to me. We hope to see your best and brightest students throughout this process!

Many thanks,
