Due to a positive response from our corporate organization and human resources, we have had two summer intern positions approved for our Claremont optical fiber cable plant. Claremont is located about a 2 ½ hour drive Southwest of Blacksburg in North Carolina.
One position will be working in the R&D organization on development and testing of new fiber optic cable products and materials. The R&D position will involve characterization and testing of polymeric materials as well as characterization of optical fiber breaks. The other position will be in the Engineering group working on electronic process documentation upgrades and other process optimization. The engineering position will involve work with extrusion processing of thermoplastics and electronic data systems within a manufacturing environment.

This program is an excellent and structured introduction into a corporate career, and I have personally worked with many of the talented young people in this program.
