Hello…
Every year, NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD) offers several 10-week summer internships through the Space Grant SMD Internship Program. We are asking for your help in recruiting interested students to apply. The 2016 interns (please see attached file for position descriptions and skill requirements) will be assigned as follows:
Chandra X-Ray Observatory Flight Operations & Integration (2-3 positions), Cambridge, MA
Space Telescope Science Institute (STSI) Public Outreach (1 position), Baltimore, MD
OSIRIS-REx Asteroid Sample-Return Mission Communication & Public Engagement (1 position), Tucson, AZ
To apply, students must be U.S. citizens and they need to submit their application to the Virginia Space Grant Consortium (VSGC), clearly indicating which internship position(s) they wish to be considered for. The application packet must include a resume, a summary of skills relevant to the internship desired, and a brief statement regarding why they are interested in that particular internship. Applications are due at the VSGC office no later than 4:30pm on Friday, February 5, 2016. Received packets will then be forwarded on to the NASA Space Grant SMD Internship Program for a selection process that begins February 12th.
Should a Virginia student be selected as an intern, the VSGC will sponsor her/him and provide them with a $6,000 stipend. General inquiries regarding the NASA Space Grant SMD Internship Program or the 2016 internships should be directed to Dr. Terry Teays (email: tteays1@jhu.edu). Application packets may be submitted via U.S. mail, FAX or email to:
