2 Positions @ Bridgestone



Scientist 1
Bridgestone Americas Center for Research and Technology located in Akron, Ohio is currently seeking applications for a Scientist 1 position in the Analytical Department. Researchers at the Bridgestone Center for Research and Technology primarily focus on developing new materials for tire and other diversified products.  Scientists work in a multidisciplinary environment collaborating with scientists and engineers at the three major Bridgestone Technical Centers in Akron, Tokyo, and Rome.

The qualified candidate will be expected to conduct Analytical testing and provide Analytical technical support to scientists, engineers, and researchers at the Bridgestone family of companies. Responsibilities for this position include proper sample preparation and conducting laboratory experiments following new or established methods.  All duties must be performed in compliance with established safety and record keeping protocols. 

Qualifications:
B.S. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics or any other related scientific discipline with 1-2 years of experience. The qualified candidate should have extensive hands-on experience in Microscopy preferably applied to polymers or soft materials.  Knowledge and experience with other analytical techniques would be beneficial.  This position entails close collaboration between scientists, engineers, and researchers to development new Analytical methods requiring good written and verbal communication skills.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office and proprietary software applications is also required. Research Scientist
Bridgestone Americas Center for Research and Technology is currently seeking a hire a Research Scientist specializing in Spectroscopy for the Analytical Division in Akron, Ohio. Researchers at the Bridgestone Center for Research and Technology primarily focus on developing new materials for tire and other diversified products.  Scientists work in a multidisciplinary environment collaborating with scientists, researchers and engineers at the three major Bridgestone Technical Centers in Akron, Tokyo and Rome.
The qualified candidate should have extensive hands-on experience in NMR and/or FTIR spectroscopy preferably applied to polymers or soft materials as demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or patents.  Knowledge and experience with other analytical techniques is preferable. Job entails close collaboration between scientists, engineers, and researchers to development new advanced Analytical methods.

Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Biochemistry or other Science related disciplines with 1-2 years of experience. Candidate must possess solid academic training, must be creative, and exhibit strong problem-solving abilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others are essential skills for this position. Applicant must be authorized to work in the United States.
