We are currently searching for a Co-Op / Intern Student to work in the Environmental, Health & Safety Department of our Blacksburg, VA facility. This will be a 20 - 30 hour per week paid position beginning on or about Monday, May 11, 2015 and lasting until about December 31st, 2015, or until a date determined by the supervisor and candidate.
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Possible projects include:
• Development of EHS Alerts.
• Maintain employee communication boards.
•Interact and communicate with employees on the floor.
•Perform and maintain records for weekly and monthly EHS audits and Environmental permitting.
•Document Control: The successful candidate will maintain EHS files.
•The candidate will review all internal EHS procedures and streamline documents/procedures in our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system (known as Plex). This would include reviewing all documents in our EHS system, from all departments and determine what is needed and what is obsolete. The candidate will then document the proper procedures in a Process Flow Map, which the student will be required to create.
We are
looking for a student who is interested in working in the Environmental, Health
& Safety field in a manufacturing Environment.
• We are looking for a student pursuing a degree in one of the following fields: Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or other similar disciplines.
• We need a student in their Sophomore or Junior year.
• We need someone with very strong skills Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Apps.
•We need someone who is self motivated, responsible, and able to work independently.
• We would prefer someone with some experience working in a Lab.
• Solid interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels of personnel.
• Conscientious with ability to work with confidential information.
• Good with detail; timeliness and accuracy of information is essential.
• Effective decision-making and problem resolution.
• Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
