About the Job
This
summer internship will provide a college-level student with practical
experience related to his or her major in engineering or Sustainable
Biomaterials that will enhance and complement classroom learning.
The
position will require good mechanical, analytical, and problem solving skills. This individual will be working in both an
office and manufacturing floor environment and will require good manufacturing
practices and adherence to all safety procedures.
Key
responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Participate and lead projects for lumber vendor evaluation and optimizing lumber for value/yield
- Collect, organize and evaluate data
- Make recommendations and assist in the implementation of process improvements and reducing waste
- Drive projects to improve quality performance by eliminating variation in the process
Qualifications/Skills:
- Majoring in either Engineering (preferably Mechanical) or Sustainable Biomaterials and be in good academic standing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be creative, resourceful, attentive to detail, and highly organized
- Proficient with MS-Office applications (primarily Outlook, Excel, and Word)
- Experience using CAD software is a plus
- Knowledge of LEAN processes
